Committee Responsibilities
Asset Development Committee
Assist with identifying individuals & businesses that have the ability to support the goals of the GMCF (no committee meetings; meets with CEO periodically).
Community Art Committee
Assist with establishing a community art plan consisting of art selection, location, and messaging (Regular meetings).
Events Committee
Assist with the identification of community members for appropriate recognition at the annual and semi-annual meetings who have demonstrated the spirit of philanthropy within the community through their time, talent, or treasure (Quarterly meetings).
Finance Committee
Assist with the preparation of the Foundation’s operating budget and annual audit (2-3 fall meetings in preparation for upcoming year).
Fiscal Sponsorship
Assist with the review of requests made by organizations who don’t have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and request a fiscal sponsorship relationship with the GMCF (1 meeting annually and periodic email committee decisions as needed).
Grants Committee
Assist with the review and recommendations of grants from the proposals received through the Grants for Greater Manhattan program (3-4 meetings in March and April).
Human Resources Committee
Limited to board officers Oversee the search, identification and supervision of GMCF staff positions. Identify and nominate individuals to be elected as Trustees and Officers of the Foundation (3-4 meetings from August to November).
Investment Committee
Oversee investment objectives and makes recommendations to the Executive Board for the investment of funds of the Foundation (Quarterly meetings).
Marketing Committee
Assist with establishing a plan to promote public awareness of the Foundation’s programs, objectives, and capabilities (Quarterly meetings).
Nominating Committee
Assist with identifying and nominating individuals to be elected as Trustees and Officers of the Foundation (2-3 January and February meetings).
Professional Advisors Committee
Assist with establishing a plan to identify and enhance relationships with professional advisers (2-3 periodic meetings as needed).
Scholarship Committee
Assist with the review and selection of scholarship recipients as established by fund guidelines (1-2 meetings in April).
Strategic Initiatives Committee
Assist with establishing a vision and direction to ensure strategic use of GMCF funds for community impact (Quarterly meetings).
Website Committee
Assist with content review and strategic messaging to ensure GMCF communicates effectively with constituents (Quarterly meetings).
Youth Impacting Community Committee
Assist with the development and implementation of the youth program designed to educate youth ages 14-18, about the philanthropic basics of receiving and granting support (4-5 meetings as needed throughout the year).
