Community Cares Chest: Strengthening Local Nonprofits

The Community Cares Chest (CCC) is making a significant impact by providing much-needed resources to area nonprofits and charitable efforts. Through this initiative, the CCC has received product donations and distributed them to organizations that serve Manhattan, Riley County, and surrounding areas, helping to meet critical needs in the community.

In 2024, the Community Cares Chest provided vital support to our nonprofit partners and their clients through five truckloads of essential items, each valued between $100,000 and $200,000. These shipments included necessities like laundry detergent, personal care products, food staples, beverages, socks, and Amazon products, meeting critical community needs. To date, the Community Cares Chest has unloaded 22 truckloads of items, representing an estimated $4.7 million in retail product value. These goods have been distributed to local nonprofits, increasing their capacity to serve individuals and families in need.

This effort wouldn’t be possible without the support of dedicated volunteers. We extend our gratitude to the Manhattan Rotary Club, whose members have consistently stepped up to assist with unloading and distribution. By working together, GMCF, local nonprofits, and volunteers ensure that resources reach those who need them most, fostering a stronger, more resilient community.
