Sunset Zoo - 2021

The funding provided by the YES! Fund plays a significant role in supporting the Z.O.O. Crew Afterschool Program during the spring and following fall semesters. The funds granted helped support staff salaries and supported the Z.O.O. Crew program. The Z.O.O. Crew program offers middle and high school students a unique afterschool experience centered around engaging in zookeeper activities. This non-traditional option provides the Manhattan community with an alternative for students who may not find their place in conventional programs like sports or school-sponsored clubs.

The Z.O.O. Crew program has diligently implemented and maintained COVID-19 safety measures initially introduced during the fall 2020 semester. These measures were crucial in ensuring the well-being of both students and staff. One of the primary safety precautions involved reducing the program's capacity to encourage social distancing within limited spaces. Instead of accommodating six students per afterschool shift, the capacity was reduced to three students. 

With the support of the YES! Fund, ensures the well-being and continued engagement of the participating students. The program remains dedicated to providing an enriching experience while prioritizing the health and safety of all involved.
