Flint Hills Volunteer Center - 2022
A YES! Fund grant in 2022 was awarded to the Flint Hills Volunteer Center, which plays a significant role in serving the Manhattan and Flint Hills region. With a diverse range of programs tailored to meet the needs of various demographics, the Flint Hills Volunteer Center has become a vital asset to the community. The support from the YES! Fund facilitated the center's growth and provided crucial funding for multiple employees, enabling them to continue their important work.
The impact of the Flint Hills Volunteer Center's efforts is evident in the significant number of individuals who have benefited from their services. Throughout the year, over 500 people were positively affected by the center's initiatives, highlighting their profound influence on the community as a whole.
One noteworthy project undertaken in 2022 was led by the CSC (Connecting Students to Communities) group, which organized a volunteer program at the Manhattan Emergency Center. Despite initial hesitations, a middle school student decided to participate because her friends were involved, and she needed volunteer hours for school. However, upon arriving at the center and learning about the individuals staying there, she experienced a shift in perspective. She began recognizing the blessings in her own life and genuinely appreciated what she had. Grateful for the opportunity to assist others in need, she realized that extending a helping hand was the least she could do.
