Announcing the 2024 GMCF Holiday Giving Guide: A New Way to Give Back

As autumn fills the air, we’re reminded that the holiday season—and the spirit of giving—is just around the corner. In anticipation of this special time, the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation is thrilled to introduce the 2024 Holiday Giving Guide, a unique opportunity for our community to support local nonprofits.

The holiday season is a critical time for charitable giving, with last December alone accounting for more than a quarter of all online donations. By participating in the Holiday Giving Guide, you can help local nonprofits achieve their fundraising goals, enabling them to continue their essential work well into the new year.

Why the Holiday Giving Guide?

• Meeting Immediate Needs: Nonprofits often face time-sensitive needs, and donors want to make an immediate and meaningful impact. The guide features a carefully curated selection of nonprofit projects, each addressing specific and urgent needs in the Greater Manhattan area.
• Empowering Donors to Make Informed Choices: With so many appeals for donations during the holidays, the guide clarifies local needs, making it easier for donors to contribute to projects that genuinely resonate with them.
• Supporting Local Causes: By focusing exclusively on local nonprofits, the guide ensures that each donation directly impacts the Manhattan area, strengthening the community we call home.

How to Participate as a Donor

On December 3rd (Giving Tuesday), the Holiday Giving Guide will go live on the GMCF website, and both the public and GMCF fund holders are invited to join in:

1. Explore the Guide: Browse featured nonprofit projects, each describing their goals and specific needs.
2. Select Projects to Support: When a project resonates, click on its link to make your donation. Each project entry includes information on how your contribution will be used, helping you see the direct impact of your gift.
3. Share and Amplify the Impact: We encourage you to spread the word after giving. GMCF’s social media platforms will post updates about the Holiday Giving Guide—please “like” and “share” these posts with friends and family to inspire even more support.
4. Celebrate the Season of Giving: Supporting local causes is fulfilling and helps sustain essential community services and programs. You’ll experience the joy of making a positive difference close to home through your generosity.
