GMCF Young Trustee Fund
The GMCF Young Trustees is an organization started in 2015 by the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation to expose young professionals in the community to local non-profits and encourage them to engage and learn more about philanthropy. The Young Trustees host the Annual MHK Chili Cook-Off, where local businesses come together to support local nonprofits and compete in a chili competition to raise money to support local nonprofits. All proceeds from the event are given back to MHK nonprofits. The Young Trustees also sponsor a December program called 'Santa Letters.' Young Trustees respond to letters written to Santa that are placed in Santa's Mailbox in Blue Earth Plaza. We also work with local nonprofits to gather children's Christmas lists and provide children in need with Christmas presents that include simple necessities along with something the child 'wants' like a toy or board game. In 2019, Young Trustees responded to hundreds of letters to Santa and provided gifts to 92 children in need!
