League of Women Voters Stella Harris Scholarship Fund

The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Manhattan-Riley County Stella Harriss Scholarship Fund was established at the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation to award scholarships to non-traditional students who desire to further their education at Kansas State University. The LWV, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for elective office. The LWV of the United States was organized in 1920; the year women won the right to vote. The Manhattan/Riley County League began in 1942 and is one of about 1100 local Leagues in the United States.
