Sue Maes

When the discussion of the community foundation began, Sue was eager to get involved. Her recognition of something to support the community's charitable needs made her an obvious selection to assist with the foundation's establishment. Her connections even led to the identification of the first Executive Director so the board could meet the initial Kansas Health Foundation grant requirements. Her work and involvement led her to become Board President and the inaugural GMCF Volunteer of the Year 2001. Always ready and willing to support a good cause, she was also, in the beginning, an inspirational supporter of the creation of the Fairy Godmothers program—one that still serves an instrumental role of support in our community.
