GMCF Young Trustees
Background
GMCF Young Trustees is a group of individuals under 40 who want to grow their knowledge of and impact on the philanthropic sector within Manhattan, KS, and the surrounding region.
The group began in 2015 to expose young professionals in the community to local nonprofits and encourage them to engage.
Expectations
- Participating on a committee
- Attending the GMCF Semi-Annual and Annual meetings
- Staying informed of GMCF programs and the nonprofits served
- Embracing philanthropy by contributing to one or more of the GMCF nonprofit funds
Events
"Give Back to MHK" Golf Tournament
Individuals and teams compete in a four-person scramble golf tournament event to benefit local nonprofits in the Manhattan area. Each team will choose a nonprofit to play for, with $100 of each team's entry fee going towards the charity of their choice. We also ask that participants bring an item from the in-kind donation list provided on the Manhattan Emergency Shelter website. Click the link to be taken directly to their website. MHK Chili Cook-Off
Individuals and businesses alike are allowed to compete against each other to be voted as the best chili in town! All proceeds are donated to local nonprofits.

Letters to Santa
Provides a personalized response to each child who has written and "mailed" a letter to Santa via depositing their letter into "Santa's Mailbox," located at the Blue Earth Plaza. In addition, essential gifts are given to children in need, and a fun-filled evening to meet Santa is provided to all children in the community.
